Wangfujing Church

Wangfujing Church is also known as East Church. It was first built in 1655, the second largest Christianity Church after the Nantang built in the late of Ming Dynasty. Recent years, With the Wangfujing Commercial Street enlarging and rebuilding, the government allocated funds to the East Church. The mission school built by the original church – Benefits Girl School was changed into Wangfujing Primary School. Chinese Catholic Friendly Congress was founded in 1957. In 1978, the Church recovered the regular religious activities.
