5 Days Great Wall Hiking, Exciting!

Been in Beijing for quite a while and spent a great time in the city. Most memorable experience is no doubt my visit to the Great Wall. Visited a whole bunch of sections of the wall. Had so much fun and plenty of experiences of lifetime.

Mutianyu Great Wall
It was the Great Wall at Badaling, Juyongguan and Mutianyu sections that I was taken to see first. The Great Wall at those sections was very well restored, making the walk on the wall easier than those I visited the next few days. It was really amazing to see the Great Wall up-close and personal. I took my time to explore those structures on the wall, such as the watch towers, beacon towers, fortresses and barracks. Juyonguan was marvelous and very complete, with city wall well preserved and restored, giving me a chance to see it all and a good sense of what the Great Wall was all about. I did not enjoy my visit to Badaling, very crowded and too touristy. The wall at Mutianyu section is nothing special, but the scenery out there was even more dramatic and incredible. While hiking all the way up the wall, I also took my time to take in the fresh outdoor air, fascinating countryside landscapes. It was really fun and so exciting to walk up and down the stone path, snap great photos the minute I found something fascinating. At Mutianyu section, great photo opportunities were at every bend of the wall. The sight of the wall snaking upon the rugged mountains completely blew me away. Really had fun out there!

Jinshanling
For the last few days, I ventured further off the beaten path sections, including Jinshanling and Simatai sections. Climbing up the crumbling path over those sections was very challenging to me, but that was part of the fun and full of exciting experiences. Puffing up and down on the crumbing path was something I never did before and it was really a whole new experience! The sights I took in at those sections were so much better than those at Mutianyu and Juyongguan, I really loved it out there. How I wished that I could set up a tent out there and spend the night. The crumbling paths were overgrown with bush and shrub, making every step much of a challenge. The photos I got over there were even more amazing and rare and I hope they do justice to the sight out there.

Overall, best wall experience I ever had in Beijing!
