Shopping Tour - Zoo Market and Silk Market

My friends and I we four people have a wonderful trip in Beijing this summer holiday. I will share my wonderful experience and recommend this tour routes to my family after returning home.

We booked two tour routes to get a deep understanding about Beijing. One is to the representative attractions of Beijing: four days package tour to Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Hutong, Mutianyu Great Wall, Ming Tombs, Sacred Road, Temple of Heaven, etc. With the help of our kindly and knowledgeable tour guides, we had a happy time during these four days and learnt a lot about the history of Beijing. And thanks to the fine weather, we enjoyed the most beautiful scenery in the suburbs of Beijing. To my surprise, the second tour route deeply impressed me. It is a one day shopping tour to Zoo Market and Silk Market.

Beijing Zoo Market

The tour guide picked us up at my hotel at 9:00 am and took us to Zoo Market near Beijing zoo in the northwest of Beijing. It is a huge wholesale market group. There are several large buildings get together here and we visited Julong, Tianlegong and Shiji Tianle. In my opinion, they look the same. Anywhere is from 10 to 50 RMB for shirts, tops, jeans, pants, skirts, everything. Jewelries are for about only 10-15RMB with beautiful look. If you are a good bargainer and tired of shopping at high-end shopping malls where everything seems to be overpriced at fixed prices, this is a great choice and will let you enjoy a lot of fun.

After a typical Chinese lunch we visited another downtown shopping market – Silk Market. I like it very much. Here are not only Chinese traditional silk products and exquisite handicrafts, but also many kinds of foreign well-known brands. While enjoy seeing, our tour guide told us a lot about the history of Chinese silk culture. I also bought two silk nightclothes here. Although not weekends, we still find many locals buying cloth here.

About 5:00 pm we finished our Beijing trip. We really enjoy a wonderful time here. Next destination – Xian and I hope the tour in Xian will be excellent too.
