From south to north, the first appears to you is the Yongding Gate which is the head of dragon in axle wire. Yongding Gate sits at between Zuoan Gate and Youan Gate, is the biggest among the seven gates of old Beijing outer city, also is the important way come in and go out Beijing from south. Zhengyang GateZhengyang Gate
Zhengyang Gate, built in Yongle of Ming Dynasty, continued to use the old Lizheng Gate in Yuan Dynasty firstly. In 1439, all nine gates were rebuilt completely, and the Lizheng Gate was renamed as Zhengyang Gate. The standard of Zhengyang Gate is higher than other eight gates. There is an old say about Zhengyang gate, which is Four Doors, Three Bridges and Five Pailous. Four Doors refer to four door opening, including Chenglou Door, Jianlou Door, and doors in west and east. Three Bridges refer to Zhengyang Bridge, divided into three sections. The middle one direct refer to Jianlou Door, is named as Imperial Way, is the only way for rulers. Five Pailou refer to the Pailou sits at front of Zhengyang Gate. Now, just Zhengyang Gate Pailou was rebuilt.

Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the modern construction in axle wire, is located at Tiananmen Square and original old address of Zhonghua Gate. Covering an area of 57,000 square meters, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall includes courtyard and memorial two parts mainly. In addition, the open time of Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is limited. Just from 8:00am to 12:00am from Tuesday to Sunday. It is one of the most important buildings in Tiananmen Square.

Tiananmen Tower, the front door of imperial city in axle wire, was built in 1417. It is the outstanding of ancient architecture art, also is the image reflection of feudal hierarchy: the middle bridge carved with dragon was the only way for emperors, named as Yulu Bridge; both sides bridges carved with lotus were the ways for prince, named as Wanggong Bridge; the outer both sides bridges for officials who sit three-level before, named as Pinji Bridge and the furthest sides bridges were named as Gongsheng Bridge for low-level people. Since 1987, Tiananmen Tower was opened to public formally. It attracts large number of tourists to enjoy its scenery.
