Why Cuandixia Village is Well Worth a Visit

There are so many fun things to explore in Beijing. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and stretch your legs a little, then you really should pay a visit to Cuandixia – a lovely ancient village in Beijing! Here are some features of the village:

One of a Kind Architecture
Cuandixia Village is located deep in the mountains, west of Beijing. The village has now preserved 500, 70 sets of the Ming and Qing Dynasties era courtyard houses. The whole village retains complete ancient building complex, located in the gentle slope on the north side. Filled with stone paved lanes and stone houses, it looks elegant and beautiful. The village is divided into two layers, with a unique layout, hailed as the Potala Palace in Beijing area. The courtyards are paved with stone too, colored stone slates all over the place - not hot in summer, not cold in winter. Underground cellar is built for storing vegetables, fruit, featuring a suitable temperature - turnip, potatoes can be stored for months. On the ground, there are some stone holes used for drying grains and other food, exquisitely designed and looked very beautiful too.

What Fun Stuff to Explore
Starting early in the morning, around the village, see the farmers grow rice; in the afternoon visit Guan Yu Temple on the opposite mountain, look at the village on the opposite hill – you will enjoy a full day. You can also hike along the mountain trails to do some sightseeing, only takes you less than an hour. In addition to see scenic area, the most enjoyable thing is to find a farm stay, stroll slowly, look around, and chat with the village people, take a daze in the daylight. The village has plenty of wild slopes perfect for relaxation, and the view is very good. There is an ancient path along the cliff where you can hike on foot. Want to enjoy some fresh air, then go to Huang Caoliang nearby, have a look the alpine meadow and beautiful flowers, or hum a tune with the sheep man – all are amazing experiences!
