After four years construction from 1996, Beijing Aquarium was officially opened to the public on September 28, 1999. The aquarium features seven exhibition halls equipped with an advanced facilities and amenities. Those hall themes include Rainforest Adventure, Touch Pool, Wonder of the Coral Reefs Tunnel Hall, Shark Harbor, Rare Chinese Sturgeon Hall, Whales and Globefish Hall and Marine Theatre.

The 39-yard-long (36-meter) touch pool contains a variety of urchins and starfish, and 32 other tanks throughout the aquarium house sharks, sea turtles, jelly fish and other colorful sea creatures. Whale and Dolphin Bay is the home and school for whales, dolphins and sea lions. Here, they are being trained by professional trainers for performances to entertain visitors. In additional, the complex also includes an audio-visual room, information room, reading room and workshop where seawater will be produced.

More than that, number of marine animals will perform in Marine Theatre daily. The best way to get Beijing Aquarium is by subway. Get off at Beijing Zoo subway station (Line 4) then exit from exit A (northwest exit), and you'll find the south gate of Beijing Zoo.
