Capital Museum

Beijing Capital Museum is a modern museum which now located in 16 Fuxingmenwai Street on Changan Street after moved from Confucius Temple on Guozijian Street in 2001. After reconstruction, Beijing Capital Museum displays a larger collection and offer better facilities.

Overview about Beijing Capital Museum
With a total area of 63,390 square meters, the museum contains with five floors above ground and two floors underground. There displays everything interesting about Beijing, including an interesting chronological history of Beijing, an exhibition that is dedicated to cultural relics of Peking opera, a fascinating Beijing Folk Customs exhibition, as well as displays of ancient bronzes, jade, calligraphy and paintings.

Exhibitions of Capital Museum
Exhibits displays in the new Capital Museum are mainly past years collections about history, archeology, cultural heritages and other related subjects of Beijing. Exhibition of Capital Museum consists of three parts including permanent exhibitions, exhibitions of fine artistic works and temporary exhibitions.

Permanent exhibition including "Ancient Capital Beijing-History and Culture", "Ancient Capital Beijing-Urban Construction" and "Old Stories of Beijing-Exhibition of Old Beijing Folk Customs". Those exhibitions show splendid and glorious Beijing culture, which has constantly evolved and gradually formed its glorious development history.

In exhibitions of fine artistic works, visitors could enjoy Chinese ancient bronze art, calligraphy, ancient paintings, ancient jade ware, ancient Buddha statues and the exhibition of old stories of Beijing. Over 5600 pieces are on display, ranging from Ming-Qing classical paintings and calligraphy to ancient jade art.

At last, the temporary exhibitions are the stage to study and appreciate exchange relations between cultures of Beijing and the other regions of China or the world.

How to Get Capital Museum?
By Subway: From Muxidi Station, Line 1, walk east 200 meters.
By Bus:
1. Special Bus 1 stops at Muxidi. Buses 1, 4, 37, and 52 stop at Gonghui Dalou (Labor Union) Building, then walk west 200 meters.
2. Take bus no. 37 and get off at Sanlihe Donglu Nankou (South End of Sanlitun East Road) Station;
3. Take bus no. 26, 45, 114, 308, 319, 80, 843, 842, 844, 845, 840, or 937 and get off at Baiyun Lu Station.
