Overview about China Currency Museum
China Currency Museum is a special national museum affiliated to the central bank of People's Bank of China. It mainly engaged on the collection, exhibition and study of the currencies. The museum itself displayed basic displays and special exhibitions. The former is placed in the currency showroom inside the headquarters of People's Bank of China. Visitors should reserve their visit time in advanced because the basic displays are situated inside the office building of the bank. But today, it called the basic displays temporarily is not open to the public.

On the other hand, the special exhibition of China Currency Museum is located inside Special Exhibition Department of China Currency Museum, on the west side of Tiananmen Square. It has been opened to the public since August, 1999. They are divided into six categories including ancient currencies, gold and silver currencies, paper currencies, currencies of minorities, foreign currencies, and cultural relics relevant to currencies. In total, the museum houses almost 300,000 well preserved items of currency or relevant cultural relics.

Some important representatives among the collections are golden and silver currencies, contemporary currencies, and foreign currencies. Visitors could have a short visit learn about Chinese old currencies, its modern as well as foreign currencies.
