Business Hours in Beijing

Work days in Beijing are usually from Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are days off.

As in most countries, woking hours vary depending on industry, company and fifferent organizations. The basic working day is comparable to the west, beginning at around 08:30 or 09:30 and ending early evening.

Government offices, institutions and schools begin at 8:00 or 8:30, and end at 17:00 or 17:30 with two-hour noon break, from Monday to Friday. They usually close on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays including New Year's Day ( 3 days off ), Spring Festival( the Chines Lunar New Year - 7 days off ), Labor Day on May 01 ( 3 days off ) and National Day on October 1 ( 7 days off ).

Company offices work days are also from Monday to Friday, usually starting at 9:00 till 18:00.

Banks and post offices open from 9:00 to 17:00 everyday. But their business hours will be shortened by one or two hours during weekends and public holidays. One can find self-service banks and ATM machines operate at any time.

Hotels and hospitals offer round-the-clock services everyday. Community clinics are also open from 8:30 till past 22:00 everyday.

Most of the scenic spots in Beijing sell entrance tickets from 9:00 till 17:00. Some are open much earlier like Temple of Heaven, beihai Park, Summer Palace. Many early birds in Beijing come to these parks for morning exercises.

Shops supermarkets and department stores generally open at 09:00 and close between 19:00 and 22:00 including weekends and public holidays. Small shops and grocery stores open earlier and close later than that time. However, during the Spring Festival, stores close early in the afternoon on the New Year's Eve.
