Dashilan Street

Overview about Dashilan Street
Located south of Tiananmen Square, west of Qianmen Street, Dashilan enjoys a high prestige in Beijing as a famous time-honored shopping street. From the square, Dashilan can be reached by only few minute walk. Dashilan is a pedestrian street (no motor vehicles or bicycles are allowed) dotted with shops and stores both modern and the old one.

Dashilan was also the former entertainment center of Beijing apart from the commercial center. There were five grand Chinese opera theaters in Dashilan, even the first movie theater in Beijing, Daguan Lou also situated here. It has a total history of more than 580 years old since Ming Dynasty of China. And till now, Dashilan still boasts its well preserved ancient architecture. Walking in Dashilan Street with various classic architectures, you seem back to the old time of Beijing to visit the flourishing business conditions.

Dashilan is undoubtedly one of the few time-honored shopping streets in Beijing which survived.

Walking through Dashilan Street, visitors could enjoy its ancient style of old commercial area. Dashilan which extends about 275m long from east to west is a home for famous old shops and time-honored brands in old Beijing. Most China time-honored brands of the city, such as QJD (Quanjude) of Peking Roast Duck, Ruifuxiang for silks and satins as well as foreign goods, Beijing Tongrentang for traditional Chinese medicine, Qianxiangyi for silks and satins, Neiliansheng for traditional Beijing cloth shoes, Shengxifu for various Chinese caps and hats, Zhang Yi Yuan for its Chinese tea, etc. Till now, all of them still provide their good products to travelers from both home and abroad.

How to Get Dashilan Street
By Subway:
Take the Subway Line 2 and get off at Qianmen Station.
By Bus:
Take 69, 71, 59, 120, 729, Te 11,  Te 7, 66, 48, 203, 2, 20, 201, 626 and get off at Dashilan
