Itinerary of: 24 Days Grand China City Tour

Day 1
Arrival in Beijing

Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Beijing Airport and transfer you to hotel. The rest day is free.

Day 2
Beijing (B, L, D)
Forbidden City

Visit the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy Beijing Duck Dinner in the famous Quanjude restaurant.
- Tiananmen Square: the largest public square in the world. It is 880 meters from north to south, and 500 meters from east to west, with a total area of 440,000 square meters and can hold one million people.
- Forbidden City: the largest ancient imperial palaces where 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing, ruled the country from here over a span of nearly 500 years.
- Temple of Heaven: The temple was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests.

Day 3
Beijing (B, L)
Water Cube

Visit the Badaling Great Wall, the Sacred Way and the Ming Tomb. On the way back to downtown, drive by the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium). You will see its appearance at a distance. Enjoy the Peking Opera in the evening.
- Badaling Great Wall: With an elevation of 600 meters it is the most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall.
- Ming Tomb: also called Shisanling (literally, Thirteen Tombs), it is the largest clusters of imperial cemeteries in China. They are mausoleums of thirteen emperors of the Ming Dynasty.
- Sacred Road: Which means the road leading to heaven is lined with 18 pairs of stone human figures and animals, they are important decorations of the mausoleum.

Day 4
Beijing - Datong (B)
Lama Temple

Visit the Summer Palace, the Lama Temple. Take a train to Datong.
- Summer Palace: the largest and best preserved imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty extant in Beijing, as well as a famous classical imperial garden.
- Lama Temple: the Yonghegong (Palace of Harmony and Peace) Lamasery is the largest and most perfectly preserved lamasery of Gelug Sect(Yellow Sect of the Lamaism)in present day Beijing.

Day 5
Datong (B)
Yungang Grotto

Arrive in Datong in the morning. After having breakfast at the hotel, visit the Nine Dragons Screen, Yungang Grottoes and the Hanging Monastery.
- Datong Nine Dragons Screen: The oldest and largest glazed screen in China today. The screen can be divided into three parts, the pedestal, body and roof. It is of 8 meters (about 26 feet) high, 2.02 meters (6.6 feet) thick and 45.5 meters (149 feet) long.
- Hanging Monastery: With a history of 1,400 years and being constructed on precipitous cliffs, the temple makes itself an architectural wonder throughout history by standing as far as 50 meters from the ground.
- Yungang Grottoes: Another UNESCO Culture Heritage Site. It is the largest cluster of Grottoes in China with some 51,000 sculpures of varying sizes in 53 rock caves. This grottoes has a history of 1,500 years old.

Day 6
Datong - Pingyao (B)

Take a soft sleeper train to Pingyao and transfer to the hotel.

Day 7
Pingyao - Taiyuan - Xian (B, L)
Qiao Family House

Visit the Ri Sheng Chang Financial House, the City Wall and the Mingqing Street. After lunch, transfer to Taiyuan, visit Qiao Family's Compound on the way if time permitted. Transfer to the tarilway station and take train to Xian.
- Ri Sheng Chang Financial House: meaing "sunrise prosperity" was founded in the third year of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty (1823), considered to be China's first bank.
- Mingqing Street: also know as Nan Da Jie, the main downtown thoroughfare that reserved quite well of the styles in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
- Ancient City Wall:  It is the most well-preserved wall among the ancient historical and cultural cities in China, and also an early and largest city wall in Shanxi Province.
- Qiao Family's Compound: It was built during the Emperor Qianlong's reign of the Qing Dynasty. The most exquisite relics in the solemn compound are brick carvings, woodcarvings and stone sculpture, as well as plaques and painted murals.
 

Day 8
Arrival at Xian (B, L)
Xian Ancient City Wall

Pick you up at Xian Railway Station. After having breakfast at the hotel, visit the City Wall and a local family. The a la carte lunch is served at a local famous restaurant. Visit the Great Mosque and its nearby bazaar area.
- Xian Ancient City Wall: the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
- Great Mosque: is one of the oldest and best preserved as well as most renowned mosques in the country. It is northwest of the Drum Tower on 30 Huajue Lane.

Day 9
Xian (B, L)
Terracotta Warriors

Visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. In the afternoon, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This evening you will be entertained with the marvelous Tang Dynasty Show.
- Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum: It is a part of the Qin emperor's tomb complex, the Terra Cotta Warriors is the greatest findings in the archeology world.
- Big Wild Goose Pagoda: the symbol of the long history of Xian, and a well-preserved ancient building and holy worshipping shrine for Buddhists.
- Tang Dynasty Show: a wonderful performance of the ancient music and dance, is a must when you visit Xian.

Day 10
Day 10: Xian - Chengdu (B, L)
Hanyangling

Visit the Hanyangling Museum on the way to the airport. Take flight to Chengdu and transfer to the hotel.
- Hanyangling Museum: The Mausoleum of the Western Han Emperor Liu Qi (Hanyangling), it was built in the year 153 AD and covers an area of 20 square kilometers.

Day 11
Day 11: Chengdu (B, L)

Visit the Giant Panda Base, the Wangjiang Tower Park and the Tomb of Wangjian.
- Giant Panda Base: was one of the earliest research bases established in the early 1980s by the Government of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Day 12
Chengdu - Leshan - Emei (B, L)
Leshan Giant Buddha

Take car to Leshan. Visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, the biggest carvings in the world. Then drive to Mt. Emei, visit the Baoguo Temple and the Wannian Temple. Stay overnight at the hotel on Mt. Emei.
- Leshan Giant Buddha: The sculpture depicts the seated Buddha Maitreya carved into the cliff of Qixia Peak, on Lingyun Mountain, right next to the water.
- Mt. Emei: is the highest of China's four holy Buddhist mountains, rising 3,099m above sea level about 170 km from Chengdu.

Day 13
Mt. Emei - Zigong - Dazu (B)

Transfer to Zigong. Visit the famous Dinosaur Museum and the Salt Museum. And then transfer to the hotel in Dazu.

Day 14
Dazu - Chongqing (B)

Visit the Baoding Carvings, the famous Grotto Art in Dazu County. Transfer to Chongqing and check in at the hotel.

Day 15
Chongqing - Guilin (B, L)

Visit Ciqikou Old Town and the Residence and Headquarters General Joseph W. Stilwell Chief Commander. Take a flight to Guilin and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy the Ethnic Songs and Dances at Lijiang Theatre in the evening.

Day 16
Guilin - Yangshuo - Guilin (B, L)
Li River Cruise

Enduring memories are created today as you cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo. Upon arrival in Yangshuo, a short bicycle trip to the countryside will then be arranged. You will visit a local villager's home to experience the farmer's lifestyle there. Alternatively, you can take our electric car instead of taking bicycles. Transfer back to Guilin.
- Li River Cruise: From Guilin to Yangshuo. To travel the river, one will find its natural sights vary in different weathers, but are all beautiful.
- Yangshuo: An ancient city town. Yangshuo is famous for its attractive hills and waters as well as its abundant production particularly for such fruits as sweet orange, tangerine, pomelo and persimmon.

Day 17
Guilin - Kunming (B, L)
Elephant Trunk Hill

Visit the Reed Flute Cave, the Elephant Trunk Hill. Take a flight to Kunming and transfer to the hotel.
-Reed Flute Cave: One of the most famous caves in Guilin. The 240-meter-long cave contains numerous grotesque-shaped stalactities that form four zones of the cave: Stone Forest, Heavenly Pillar and Cloud Mountain, Crystal Palace and Zigzagging Gallery.
- Elephant Trunk Hill: shapes just like an elephant drinking water from the river with its trunk, thus its name. The symbol of Guilin. 

Day 18
Kunming - Lijiang (B, L)
Stone Forest

Visit the Stone Forest. Take a flight to Lijiang and transfer to the hotel.
- Stone Forest: is known as the First Wonder of the World ever since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) for its natural landscape.

Day 19
Lijang (B, L)

Visit the Baisha Village and a local Naxi family, the Baisha Murals, the Rock Joseph's Former Residence in Yuhu Village. You can explore the old town by yourselves in the afternoon. Enjoy the Naxi Ancient Music and Dance Performance at Dongba Palace in the evening.

 

Day 20
Lijiang - Shanghai (B)

Morning is free on your own leisure and lunch is on your side. Take an afternoon flight to Shanghai and transfer to the hotel.

Day 21
Shanghai (B, L)
Yu Garden

Visit the Shanghai Museum and the Yuyuan Garden. After lunch we will transfer you to the Bund, where you will take a cruise tour on the Huangpu River. The cruise will start at 14:00, reach the Wusongkou pier and then get back to the Bund at 17:00. Then leave you some free time to explore the Bund area on your own.
- Shanghai Museum: The biggest museum in China, with a collection of over 120,000 pieces of Chinese art & cultural relics. The museum is especially famous for its treasures of bronzes, ceramics, paintings, and calligraphy.
- Yuyuan Garden: is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region.
- The Bund: the picturesque bund with tall building of various tower over the river, looking as a museum of modern world architecture.
- Huangpu River: one of the most important rivers in Shanghai, like an undulating dragon from Wusong to the East Sea.

Day 22
Shanghai - Suzhou (B, L)
Humble Administrator's Garden

Take a morning soft seat train to Suzhou and transfer to the hotel. Then follow a visit to the Tiger Hill, the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Garden of the Master of the Nets.
- Tiger Hill: The capital of Wu state of the Spring and Autumn Period. It is said to be the tomb of King Kelu. As a iconic landmark of Suzhou, the Tiger Hill is regarded as the "No.1 Resort in Wuzhong."
- Humble Administrator's Garden: One of the largest private gardens in China. It was built in 1509, the 4th year during Zhengde reign of the Ming Dynasty. It is considered as one of China's four most famous gardens along with Summer Palace, the Mountain Resort of Chengde and the Lingering Garden.
- Garden of the Master of the Nets: It was initially a private garden built by Shi Zhengzhi, a vice minister in The Southern Song Dynasty. It is considered as a good example among small-sized gardens in Suzhou.

Day 23
Suzhou - Zhouzhuang - Shanghai (B, L)
Zhouzhuang Water Town

Drive to Zhouzhuang, the No. 1 Water Town of China. Visit the Hall of Shen's residence. Drive back to Shanghai and transfer to the hotel again.
- Zhouzhuang Village: It lies between Shanghai and Suzhou. A place abounds with river and lakes. It is thought by many to be the best waterside town in China.

Day 24
Departure from Shanghai (B)

See off at the airport.
