Norbulingka

Norbulingka with trees and a lakeNorbulingka, also known as the Summer Palace in Lhasa, is located in the western suburb of Lhasa, at the bank of the Kyichu River, less than a half mile southwest of Potala Palace. The garden covers an area of about 900 acres, and the palace contains 374 rooms. It is the largest man-made garden in Tibet. Built in the eighteenth century, during the reign of the tenth Dalai Lama, the garden served as the place where the Dalai handled political affairs and religious activities.

Norbulingka Tour

Today, in addition to being a destination for pilgrims, Norbulingka is also a place for relaxation and recreation. In December 2001, UNESC0 listed NorbuIingka as a World Heritage site as an extension of Potala Palace. So it is really worth visiting during your tour to Tibet.
