A Short Trip to the Capital and Great Wall

After living more than 1 year in China, finally I climbed the Great Wall! A whole day tour overall I thought was very worth and organized. From the start, the guide picked us up at the hotel on time and transfer to Mutianyu Great Wall. We took about 2 hours ride from the downtown till Great Wall which located in the suburb outside Beijing. Luckily the van we did take was very comfortable, with air conditioning so the journey was relaxing.

Mutianyu Great Wall covering Green Color

When we arrived to the Great Wall at about 10:00am, we were glad to see what a clear, relatively warm, and sunny day it was! We had 2 hours and we wanted to walk along the Great Wall as long as we could. We walked, climbed, walked, and climbed, amazed by the scenery in the surroundings. Mutianyu Great Wall relatively less crowded and fewer visitors. Some parts of the Wall were also little bit hard to climb and kind of steep.

Together with my friends, we acted silly, made tons of jokes, and took some fun pictures. I walked up and down loads of stairs. Tons and tons and tons of steep steps to climb… what a challenge!! We enjoyed our time in Great Wall, want to reach as far as we can but did not enforce ourselves too much.

Wild Part on Mutianyu Great Wall

In some part of the section, we also could find the place where almost no other tourists with unbelievable view. We got some nice pictures without even one stranger in and yelled loudly off the Great Wall. Because our time was limited then we should back to the foot of the Wall on time. On the bottom of the Wall, we could see some souvenirs stalls with sociable sellers who always offer the souvenirs to us, foreigners. The outdoor market was also got some dried fruit, sweet walnuts and others. We met our guide after that and directly continue our trip and had lunch. Then back to downtown for a visit to Summer Palace, last destination.

Overall, the trip was well organized and worth every cent I spent. My friends and I, we all really enjoyed the trip till the end. A great experience of mine!

Hutongs, characteristic and old city lanes in Beijing, surround the Forbidden City. Here, you have chance to feel the long history and traditional custom of Beijing. Almost 3,000 hutongs in Beijing, most of them shaped in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The main construction in hutongs is quadrangle courtyard which is composed of four rooms in east, west, south and north. It is symmetrical closed style construction. Since reforming and opening, many hutongs was destroyed and modern constructions were built. Although, the hutogns still covers 1/3 area of Beijing downtown, living almost half people. Not only past, but also now, hutong is still the residence of Beijingers.

Great Trip to Mutianyu Great Wall, Ming Tombs and Olympic Stadium

My private one day trip makes me more understand about China, Beijing and its history. I am a foreign student which stayed and lived in Shanghai. I studied Mandarin for more than one year and that was my first time visit Beijing. I heard from my friends, if I want explore the Great Wall then Mutianyu is better, not too crowded and have its interesting toboggan ride. Because the transportation to Mutianyu is little difficult to find, is located outside the city so my friends and I, we were decided to take this one day trip for us.

Hiking Mutianyu Great Wall

The trip was well organized till the end, no problems ahead and really interesting. Our guide is really a friendly and informative person. She helped us a lot during the tour, all the time. The hiking in Mutianyu Great Wall was the highlight of our tour that day. We started climb the Wall with the guide and other friends. Hiked the Wall half way, we started to stop and rest a little bit. I recommended take the cable car from the start that will bring you to the top of the Wall. But we did not do it, so we wasted our energy and time on the Wall. Yeah, but however the trip to Great Wall was memorable and priceless. Come to China then Great Wall should not be missed.

The weather at the day was so coordinated and nice too. I was so lucky, seriously. We took so many pictures even more than hiking the Wall, but very fun though. A great escape from Beijing to the famous Great Wall. I am very satisfied with my experience and trip. The price that I spent with many friends were also so worth it.

Bird's Nest - Landmark of Beijing Olympics

Back to Beijing, we also did have a chance to enter the stadium of Olympic, Bird Nest. My friends and I, we entered the stadium for extra price 50 RMB, because it was not limited in the tour price. Tour guide gave us 45 minutes inside but I thought we explore more than 1 hour inside. Our guide waited for us about 30 minutes outside till finally went out to the stadium. We did feel little sorry for our guide and apologize for our late. So nice, she still waited for us. Oh, and the stadium itself, its interior architecture was really modern, complete with advanced facilities. At last, we want to thank you for everything done! Superb!
