Scenic Bus Ride plus Incredible Sights

Been in Beijing for a couple of days and had seen plenty of ancient sights within the city proper. Figured it was time to get away from the city noise for a change to explore some sights outside the city. Then my trip advisior recommended a bus tour to visit Ming Tomb and Great Wall at Badaling. All was set!

Changling in Ming Tombs

Next day, met my tour guide at my hotel with other travelers and then hit the road outside the city proper. The bus ride was great and we all had a great time on the way to our first destination - Ming Tombs. I hit it off with a few guys on the bus and before we knew it the bus had arrived. The tomb area over there was really huge and sprawling with lush trees and bushes. We had a great stroll down a stone paved path lined with lovely Chinese animal statues. Me and those guys took a couple of group photos by the statues with the help of our guide. Later we were led into a huge tomb at the end of the path. Inside the tomb, there were plenty of interesting sights. My visit to the tomb was really a whole new Chinese experience for me as I had never visited any Chinese tomb before. By the way we also stopped by a jade carving factory which added more fun to our trip down there!

Badaling Great Wall

Exiting the tomb area, we hit the road for Badaling and had our lunch first nearby. The food was so-so but that was not important. Soon after our lunch break, we headed for the Great Wall for our hike. We all grabbed a cable car up the wall. Once we were landed on the wall, we started to trek along with our guide. The day was sunny and by the time we got on the wall, there was a huge crowd. The wall itself was very impressive, especially looking far into the distance - the snaking wall undulating all over the rugged hill overgrown with trees and bushes. After about an hour of trek, we all got really tired and sweaty and had to stop for rest by a brick tower. Afterwards, we finished the rest of our hike on the wall and got down the wall on a slide. On our way back to the city proper, we also stopped by the Birds Nest and Water Cube to get a good look at the unique architecture. Overall, it was quite a full day I had in Beijing! Loved it!

3 Days Beijing Experience

On my trip to Beijing this time I had more time to explore the historic city. I spent 3 days in the city and visited a couple of iconic sights over there. The day trips I had in there was fun and full of incredible sights, great shopping and gourmet food.

Forbidden City

First day of my trip to Beijing, my tour guide took me to get a glimpse of the historic sites within the city proper. They include Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square and I even got out to watch a night show in the evening. Tiananmen Square is really huge and is kind of awe-inspiring while standing on the square and looking around. The imperial palace itself is huge too and more imposing, full of magnificent palaces, halls and exquisitely designed sights. Walking around the complex is kind of like traveling back in time for me. It was dizzy yet I really loved it! While hanging around in the compound, I even got a chance to see plenty of treasure exhibits on display in some of the many halls. One of the things I liked about the palace is its luxury and style. It seemed like there were so many imperial relics in there for me to take in. The Temple of Heaven is actually a park, larger than the Forbidden City. The architecture in the park is a little bit different from those in Forbidden City yet as amazing!

Badaling Great Wall

Next day I went further outside the city roper to the suburb to visit the Ming Tombs and Great Wall at Badaling section. The tomb area had a lovely stone-paved path lined with interesting statues. I had a great walk down the path before I went inside an underground tomb for a visit to the afterlife of the Ming emperor. It is a whole new experience to me though. After that we headed for the wall. I grabbed a cable car up the wall and enjoyed an incredible hike along the snaking wall. It was just as amazing as it could be and I really enjoyed every minute of it! Last day I completed my trip to Beijing with a visit to Summer Palace and had a relaxing walk to Hutong.

Overall, best 3 days I had while visiting China! Loved it there in China!

Fun-filled Days in Beijing

This summer I spent an amazing vacation in China. Had four days down to Beijing and did some sightseeing as well. The trip down there really opened my eyes and I had so much fun.

Mutianyu Great Wall

I was first taken outside the city proper to see a Ming tomb cluster and the Great Wall at Mutianyu. It was a pretty fine day, sunny and breezy. With a walk down a well paved path lined with lovely stone statues, I was led into an underground tomb for a quick glimpse of the afterlife of the Ming emperor. It was kind of creepy and dim-lit down there yet I had a great time to soak up the mystery and exhibits in there. Exiting the tomb area, I had lunch and a break before heading for our next stop - Mutianyu Great Wall. We made it to the wall in the afternoon. With a cable car up the wall, I started hiking forward with our guide. The wall itself was very impressive and I was really excited to get up close with the magnificent engineering feat. The section of wall was well restored and great for hike yet there were also some parts built over steep hills, which made our walk more like climb. Hours of hiking on the wall was no joke at all, soon I got really tired and my ankles hurt like hell. I took my break time to get dozens of picture taken by the tower. It seemed there were so many picture opportunities that I had a hard time to decide which one to take. Overall, it was a great day trip I had!

Summer Palace

Next day spent within the city proper and saw a bunch of historic sites including the Forbidden City and Summer Palace as well as Temple of Heaven - all imperial heritage sites. Personally I loved the Summer Palace the most. The lovely garden is full of beautiful sights and attractions. Most impressive for me was the white marble stone boat sitting by the lake. Hands down to the man who built the boat! Quite a fine piece of artwork! Loved it! The walk I did in the park was great yet the large crowd made it impossible to get some alone time - wherever I went, it seemed there was someone around. Anyway, I did have a fabulous time in the garden! Overall, I loved my trip to Beijing and definitely want to see more, given the opportunity!
