Highlight of My Trip in Beijing

Last month, our family did some serious sightseeing in Beijing. It was fun and full of lifetime experiences. I really got my eyes opened on that trip. The first day we were taken outside the city to see a bunch of Ming dynasty tombs and Great Wall at Badaling section. Honestly, I did not enjoy my time over there. At Ming Tombs, we were taken to visit an underground tomb that turned into a museum. I felt it kind of creepy and spooky while moving around, knowing I had stepped into the place of the dead. And Badaling was packed with crowds and we barely had some alone time on the wall to enjoy our trekking or taking pictures. However, we did enjoy a great time the next day when we were taken to see the Forbidden City.

Tiananmen Square

We woke up to a fine day that day, and the bus picked us up around 8 am and hot the road for Tiananmen Square. We walked for a while till we arrived at the square. From afar we saw the iconic portrait of Mao Tse Tung that hangs on the red-painted tower leading to the Forbidden City. Then our tour guide took us to the center of the square for us to do some sightseeing with a walk. The square was really huge and spacious, lined with a bunch of iconic landmarks. We took some pictures while wandering around the square. Though we were not as excited as those Chinese people when they finally stood on the icon of China, I could still tell how important the square meant for them.

Afterwards, we moved towards the meridian gate that stood at the center of Tiananmen Square and continued on down the axis line of the Forbidden City. The front part of the Forbidden City was quite pompous and magnificent, with the buildings all colorfully painted and strikingly decorated. Commoners of course were off limits to enter the Forbidden City back in ancient times, hence the name. There seemed to be hundreds of thousands of halls and palaces in the ground. Some serve as living quarters of the emperors, some court, I could tell by size, roof-style and the number of Chinese dragons on the eaves the roles of each building. Got to say, the architecture was amazing as it could be! It was really an eye-opening experience in the imperial palace!

Overall, we both had fun and some lifetime experiences while visiting Beijing!

Highlights of My 2-day Travel in Beijing

Last week on my business trip to Beijing, I got a break from my work and decided to do some sightseeing in the city. To make the most out of those 2 days, I joined a group tour to explore some of the iconic sights in the city. It was really fun and I did have a good time traveling around the city with the other travelers! It was a journey full of highlights!

Mutianyu Great Wall

The highlight of my first day trip was no doubt the Great Wall at Mutianyu section. We set out for the Great Wall in the morning after all the travelers were on the bus. It did not take long for us to get there. Once we landed on the wall after a fun ride on the cable car, we started to hiking along with the tour guide who kept filling us in with history and legends about the Great Wall. It was quite interesting to learn more about the Great Wall while enjoying the fresh outdoor air and taking in the breathtaking views out there! It was really amazing and we all had lots of fun on the wall. It was totally worth it and I got plenty of lifetime experiences and memories too! And of course I did not miss any opportunities to capture some lovely moments. We also got lots of group photos taken by our lovely tour guide. It was really a great day I had to haunt out with those travelers who were as exciting to hike the Great Wall as I was!

Summer Palace

The highlight of my second day trip was a relaxing walk in the Summer Palace. I got to say, after the long hiking the day before, it was really comfortable to relax and enjoy some lovely garden views at the same time. The time we had in the garden definitely blew my mind. I felt like I fell in love with the lovely garden the minute I walked inside! We visited dozens of amazing sights in there – just loved them all! It was really fun and relaxing to enjoy a walk around the garden and take in the breathtaking garden scenery! Everything was perfect while I was wandering in there! It seemed like I was traveling back in time!

Overall, it was a lifetime experience for me! I just loved it there!

Highlight of My Trip to Beijing

It was an amazing and fun-filled trip I had in Beijing! I really enjoyed every minute of it, especially during our hiking on the Great Wall at Badaling section. Got to say, the outdoor hiking and trekking on the Great Wall was no doubt the highlight of my trip to Beijing! It was fun and as amazing as it could be! I got a chance to get away from the bustling city scenes and take in the outdoor landscapes as long as I wanted!

Badaling Great Wall

My Great Wall hiking was arranged on the first day of my travel in Beijing. In the morning after I had my China-style breakfast, a few steamed buns and a cup of bean milk and the like, just like what the Chinese people do when they have their everyday breakfast, my tour guide showed up right on time. I hopped on a car with him and we were all set for the day trip. The car took us to a mausoleum outside the city first. And we enjoyed some lovely walking both outside the tombs and inside one tomb. Got to say, I did not enjoy the time I had in the tomb, it was kind of creepy and scary and the exhibits displayed were just so-so. After about an hour of sightseeing in there, we were taken to a jade factory to see how the Chinese jade artifacts are made with a close look around the workshop. The factory was more fun and I really enjoyed a wonderful time walking around and enjoyed window-shopping in there!

Badaling Great Wall

After that we had a delicious lunch in a restaurant. And then we hit the road again, and this time we headed to the Great Wall for some fine trekking on the wall. It did not take long for us to get there on our ride over there. After our tour guide took care of the entrance we all hopped on a cable car up the wall. After we landed on the wall, our trekking started right away! The whole time I was quite busy snapping photos and taking in the surrounding views – all were pretty amazing and I just loved every minute of it! Definitely once in a lifetime experience! Badaling section was kind of packed with crowds that day, but as we got there earlier than the others, we did not have to nudge our way through the crowds just to get a good spot for photos.

What a fun trip! I really really want to see more of Beijing over the next few days!
