Up-close and Personal with Great Wall

This summer I got a short stay in Beijing on my business trip over there. Luckily, I got one day break to myself, so I decided to make the most of it with some sightseeing to Badaling.

Badalling Great Wall

My tour guide picked me up from the hotel and we hopped on a car and hit the road to Badaling. It was a fun ride over there and I talked a lot about Great Wall with my tour guide! We arrived at the foot of the hill after about an hour of drive. After getting the entrance tickets, took a cable car up the wall. After landing on the solid paths, safe and sound, we started hiking along. The Badaling section of the Great Wall is well restored so it was kind of easy to hike up and down the wall. It was a sunny day and after about an hour of trekking on the wall, we were both soaked up in sweat, so we had to take some rest by some watch towers from time to time. However, it was all worth it because I got a chance to see and touch the Great Wall up-close and personal! Moreover, the views I saw on the wall really took my breath away! There were times when we were hiking through some sections on the wall I kind of felt dizzy and all, but it was just the height I guess!

Badalling Great Wall

While hiking along the Great Wall, I could not help but wonder how long did it take to build this engineering feat. So I asked my tour guide and she told me some history about how the Great Wall was constructed in the first place. After the information she gave me, I started to get a new perspective towards the Great Wall. I started to realize why the Chinese people were so proud of the Great Wall and even hail it as the embodiment of the nation. It was really fun and amazing to enjoy the hiking on the wall and fresh air! I just loved every minute of it! Anyway, we had to get off the wall and I felt like that I did not see enough of the wall, but I just had to call it a day!

Overall, it was an amazing trip and I had so much fun!

Family Visit, Happy Short Day Trip

So charming and exciting for our trip in Beijing. Each member of my family laughed and jumped! The first time having the family tour, we booked this Beijing day tour. Under the suggestion of my friends, we choose the Beijing Landscapes Company. Essay booking procession!

Mutianyu Great Wall

My father and I prepared all the things we would need. Checking the information is the work of my mother and my brother. We are all exciting for this tour. Our tour guide is a nice girl. Her smile and each gesture gave us the feeling of relatives. On the way to Mutianyu Great Wall, she gave us some information about this section. Her English is fluent with informative knowledge. After arriving at the Great Wall, we saw a lot of cars and tourists. Sharing the tips, we started our climbing journey. This section is well preserved appearance looking like a giant dragon winding to the far distance disappeared in the elegant mountains and grasses. We dressed thin and took our preparations. On great wall ground we stepped reflected its age and history experience. Some corners are covered by little grasses, vigorously.

Once meeting the first watch tower, we stooped and have a closer study. We imagined in the ancient time, the soldiers hidden inside through the windows observing the enemy condition, very perfect! However, for so high and elegant project, how much painstaking the ancient people spent. Watch tower is very high, also very preserved. To our regret is the vendors ranking inside creating a mass scene. There are many tourists running and jumping up and down. It is so dangerous in such a high location. We went on climbing, enjoyed the tranquil journey. Tourists coming here are less. When we climbed at the half journey, tourists appeared less than the foot. Perhaps we climbed a little faster. About 1 hour, we reached the top. Having a bird view, all the sceneries gathered into our vision and our cameras, forming a series of charming picture.

Summer Palace

Breathtaking sceneries of Summer Palace formed a tranquil and cozy environment for our tired afternoon. It is a large scale imperial garden housing so many flowers, pavilions, rocks and pearl waters areas. We sit in the pavilions and appreciate the sceneries under the breeze, fully relaxed feeling. Tourists here are more than Great Wall.

I liked this tour very much, perfect well-designed itineraries, breathtaking sceneries!

Fantastic Short Day Trip in Beijing

I have been a backpacker for years ever since I retired. And I have finally gotten a chance to travel the world. My first-time travel to China launched in Beijing – the capital city of China. I just loved the city and had so much fun during my stay there! The highlight of my trip to Beijing goes on and on, but here I just want to talk about my hiking to the Great Wall at Mutianyu section as well as a relaxing walking in Temple of Heaven.

Temple of Heaven

My tour guide picked me up at the hotel and we hit the road tight away for Mutianyu. It was a fun ride over there – we talked a lot about the Great Wall, which totally aroused my curiosity to my trip to the Great Wall. It did not take long for us to get there. After taking care of the entrance, I grabbed a cable car up the rugged hill till landed on the smooth path of the Great Wall. It was really amazing standing on the solid engineering feat myself and looking out over the wide open countryside. Hiking up the paths was part of the fun, but it was also very challenging to me. After an hour of trekking, I got really bushed and had to stop for some rest. Mutianyu section is well restored and all, making it perfect for an essential Great Wall hiking experience! I just loved every minute of it while I was there! Totally blew my mind!

When it was time for us to get down the wall for our lunch break, we took a toboggan rode down. It was fun too! After having my lunch, I headed back into town with my tour guide and completed the day trip with a visit to the Temple of Heaven – once an imperial landmark now served as a public park. The park was kind of crowded as it was very popular with Chinese visitors. Anyway, I did manage to enjoy some sightseeing in the park though. The architecture of the park was as amazing as it could be! Just loved them all! Got to say a relaxing walk around the park was really what I needed after hiking up the Great Wall for hours. I did have a good rest there!

Overall it was a great trip and once-in-a-lifetime experience for me!
