Incredible Day Trip in Beijing

I was so excited about the trip to Mutianyu that day and as it turned out, the whole trip is just as incredible as it could be! Definitely the highlight of my stay in Beijing!

Mutianyu Great Wall

The dense forest can be seen all over the place out there, and it was kind of pretty cool to see the first signs of autumn, something I longed to see long time ago. It was a sunny day and the breeze made my trek on the wall even more enjoyable. The wall itself, was quite impressive, and it was difficult to tell which parts had been restored as the guys really did a great job. It is really fun to puff up and down the path and the trek is just incredible. The experience is just amazing to walk the wall. Along the way, I bumped into many Chinese children crying and complaining, and many parents encouraging and bribing them. No reason to blame the kids for being like that because I felt just the same – tired and running out of breath all the time!

The wall snaked its way up the ridge of the mountain and seemed to just be a little addition to it. There were watchtowers every few hundred yards or so, very impressive. I also climbed on top of a few towers to get a better view of the surroundings. The most impressive is there are three watchtowers standing right next to each other - it is rare for the great wall according to my guide. It is called Zhengguantai, a group of three buildings. The three towers are each two stories high with their own observation pavilions well preserved to this day. The tower is a nice place to catch some breath and take a good rest. After rest at Zhengguantai, I continued on the journey, heading a little further and it was all steps. After two hours of hiking, it was time to get down the wall. I found my way down with my guide and headed to the toboggan station to catch a slide ride down. The toboggan weaved its way down the side of the mountain, through the forest - it is really a fun ride. Later I got back to the city, safe and sound.

The trip to the wall is best Chinese experience to me!

Amazing Beijing Visit

I always heard the story of Chinese Great Wall and Forbidden City. But, I have never got close to them and enjoyed a deep visit. This time, in order to celebrate my birthday of 20 years old, my father booked one day private tour for our three.

Forbidden City

We lived in the Beijing downtown hotel. On the departure day, we got up early and enjoy the breakfast. After twenty minutes passing by, we came to the gates of the hotel. Yes, the car is waiting for us! After greeting with each other, we started our journey. It is not far from the Tiananmen Square. But the checking procedure is so complex that it delayed much time. First, we were led to visit Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world. To our surprised is that Tiananmen Square shows more fruit than we expect. It not simply means a square but a solemn land. This land houses Great Wall Hall of the People, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and Monument to the People's Heroes, etc. For each attraction, tour guide all gave us the most considerate explaining.

We entered into the Forbidden City from the Meridian Gate. I clearly remembered this gate starts our Forbidden City visit. I liked Chinese traditional culture and history very much. I imagined that this golden castle building can give me much information about Chinese ancient times. Once entry, the large scale ground left me a deep impression. Walking further, there are so many places. Most important is that each palace has the certain function and features. For Chinese historical leaders, I got a little. The buildings arranged are very harmoniously with holy atmosphere. We took a lot of pictures with what we are interested.

Badaling Great Wall

What conquered all of us is the magnificent Badaling Great Wall. After enjoying lunch, we were driven to this wonder. It is located in the Beijing suburb area with tranquil environment and marvelous sightseeing. In the early autumn, this section showed more vigorous. We really enjoyed the happiest time in this building. Vendors here are not crowded as the tour guide said. Tourists here also are less than we expect. In the beginning, climbing journey is very simple. But, at last I really lost my strength. Each step needs much strength to hike. When we stepped on the high point, all my exciting feelings sent out!

I liked the Chinese Great Wall very much! It conveyed us not the surprising appearance but inner soul!

Thrilling Adventure

Last week I went off the beaten path to visit the wild sections of the Great Wall with a few friends. The trip went very well and we all had a great time and a lot of fun that day.

Gubeikou Great Wall

Our guide picked us up from the hotel and then we hit the road on a van ride. We first visited the Great Wall at Gubeikou section. The wall is so off the beaten path there and the paths are broken all over the place. The hills are very steep and it is really difficult to climb up and down the broken paths. But that is part of the fun while hiking the wild wall. Soon we all got tired and had to take some rest after over an hour of puffing up and down the ruined paths. The wild wall is overgrown with bushes and shrubs, making our hiking even more difficult. But we were treated to quite a sight up on the wall. The snaking wall zigzags its way up the rugged hills till it disappears into the far horizon. We took plenty of great pictures while hiking along the wall. We all got an opportunity to see what the original wall looks like on our trip down there. The hiking we did up on the wall is so exciting and we had so much fun while puffing up and down the overgrown paths.

Later we had lunch at the foothill and moved on to visit the Great Wall at Jinshanling. We only visited the eastern part of the wall there. The wall down there is a lot easier to hike than Gubeikou but still very steep. There were few people hiking on the wall down there and we all felt we had the wild wall all to ourselves. The experience is just incredible and we really had a great time on the wall just we did at Gubeikou. Our guide also told us a lot history about the wall. That made our hiking even more fun and enjoyable. It is just amazing to take in the ruins down there and the scenery is very spectacular. Moreover, there are so many great photo opportunities at every bend while hiking up and down the wall. Later our adventure travel ended on a pleasant note and we all got a safe ride back to our hotel.

Overall, the trip is quite an essential Chinese experience!
