Ancient Memory

First time to Beijing, I love everything here, atmosphere combining ancient and modern, the delicate buildings, culture and the local lifestyle, etc. It is just like a legendary waiting for my discovery. Following my father, we booked the one day bus tour exploring the legendary Ming Tombs and Badaling Great Wall. Of course, we felt very exciting and proud. Everything is well-arranged by the tour operator. To our surprised is that bus tour is harmonious and we made new friends during the whole journey. I was very interested in Chinese ancient story told by the tour guide - Lily.

Ming Tombs

First attraction called Ming Tombs. Once arrived at Ming Tombs, I felt typical solemn and coldness. It is a spacious area housing large scale complex buildings. We were led to visit the Changling. It is the largest and magnificent building in Ming Tomb. Building architecture is very complex with traditional designing style, truly impressive and highly praised. The carving patterns are lifelike with skilful designing skills. The tour guide explained the background and culture along the whole journey. Everyone gets very interested in what she explained and the stories happened.

Badaling Great Wall

However, the most impressive and exciting moment is on the Badaling Great Wall. I always hear the famous Great Wall section from my mother and father without close seeing. Once seeing the magnificent layout, I really cannot believe my eyes. Our hiking journey starts in our exciting. Every one of us climbed the Great Wall on foot not choose the cable car. Stepping on the stone steps, this kind of feeling is hard to describe, very proud feeling. Experiencing so many years, they are still in well-preserved. The stone bricks are very large and hard bearing so many tourists passing through. To the regret is that there are so many vendors ranking along adding noisy atmosphere.

Long time but without laboring, tiredness surrounded me after hiking 1 hour. We got relaxed sometimes and took pictures with the surroundings and wall buildings. Once seeing the watchtower, we all got very exciting, climbing quickly. It is designed very simple but belongs to hard project in the ancient times. We entered into having a careful appreciation. Many carvings hang on the wall, clear and deep. It is truly big damage to the world wonder.

We lingered and appreciated. Sometimes, we were stuck in the thought and sometimes we sited for relaxing. When we stepped on the top enjoying the marvelous overview, I shouted proudly! It is truly a terrific tour saving much money, very meaningful!

Memorable Day-trip in Beijing

This time, together with my son we have visited a bunch of historic sites in Beijing for the last few days. The most memorable day-trip we did is our visits to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Beijing.

Mutianyu Great Wall
That day-trip started with a trip to the wall at Mutianyu. The ride over there took a bit longer but the traffic was not as busy though. We did a great trek on the wall and enjoy fantastic sightseeing too. The wall snaked all the way up the mountains and disappeared into the horizon. The sight was truly overwhelming and we both loved the wall. The section was well restored and the path was really great for trek. The whole area was covered by greenery and standing on the wall, I was filled with awe and respect toward the wall itself. I saw the wall but I just could not believe how it was built on the steep mountains back in the day. There were fewer visitors out there and plenty of great photo opportunities on the wall. Really enjoyed the morning trek to its fullest that day. Later we headed back to the city and had lunch.

Forbidden City
Our afternoon-trip started with a visit to the Tiananmen Square and we did some sightseeing and took dozens of photos over there. Then we headed to our first favorite sight - the Imperial Palace, now a palace museum. We first got inside the wall with our guide through a magnificent gate. By the time we made it through the gate, there was already a large crowd out there. We went ahead and finally got in the palace. The palace itself is really huge and we both felt kind of dizzy walking through the gates and walls with our guide. We were really glad that our guide was with us all the time or else we would have lost our way inside the palace. There seemed to be so many awe-inspiring buildings inside the palace and all very impressive. Some of the halls display reassure exhibits and others were exquisitely decorated. No wonder the palace was once home to the Chinese emperors and royal family. The palace was as luxury as it could be. We both got a better understanding of the imperial palace. The experience was really fantastic and we both enjoyed exploring the palace.

Overall, it is the best day-trip we did in Beijing. Loved it!

Incredible Half Day Hiking

Been in Beijing for a couple of days with my brother, we both enjoyed visiting the historic city. We had so much fun and eye-opening experiences over those days. There were so many fun things to fill every day while we were there. The palace, garden, park, shopping and gourmet food, it seemed the whole city was like a treasure-trove waiting us to explore. We both loved it there and really enjoyed every minute of our vacation down there.

Badaling Great Wall

One of the most unforgettable things we did is the hike along the wall we did at Badaling for half day. The day before we went there, our guide Jane advised us to make an early start for the half-day trip, so we got up very early and had a quick breakfast too. Then we waited for Jane to show up and soon she picked us up and we all got on a car and hit the road for Badaling. The ride was quick and soon we arrived at the foothill near the wall. Once we jumped off the car, Jane led us toward a cable car station to grab a ride up the wall instead of walk up the wall on foot. The ride was great and up in the air, we got a clear view of the snaking wall. It was as incredible as it could be and we both felt so excited to finally get to see the wall. The minute we were landed on the wall, we started to hike along the wall with Jane. In the meanwhile, Jane told us a lot about the history of the wall and we also took time to snap some photos and take in the surrounding views.

The wall itself is as impressive as it could be and very awe-inspiring too. Everything seemed so perfect that day - the weather was pleasant, lovely tour guide with a good sense of humor. At first, it was very easy to hike through the stone path, but after over an hour of walk on the wall, we both felt tired and could not continue. So we stopped to get some rest and catch breath. The experience on the wall was really amazing and we both felt this is what we have been looking for on our trip to Beijing - the adventure, incredible hike and blood-pumping climbs. Later, it was time to get down, we also grabbed a fun slide down the wall and it was fun too.

Overall, the half-day hike we did is highlight of our trip to Beijing.
