Cooking Learning in Beijing

I am good at western cuisines, but I have deep impression about Chinese cuisines in a Beijing tour. Occasionally, I surfed tour packages to Beijing on this local Beijing tour operator, I surprised to find an interesting route about Chinese cooking and it attracts me deeply. Without any hesitation I book this one day cooking learning tour with a 4-days classic Beijing tour package.

Sour and Sweet Pork Steak

With the tour guide, I arrived at the local cooking school where I would learn Chinese cooking. Different from western cuisines, Chinese cuisines are made through frying, steaming and boiling with various accessories. First, the expert told me some basic skills about how to prepare the Chinese cooking. It is a complex process to recognize these various accessories for ordinary people but me, because I am a cook actually. The expert was amazed about my skill of cooking and praised that I would learn Chinese cuisines very well. After taste my fruit of cooking, the expert said I can be a good Chinese cook if I like stay in China to learn Chinese cooking sequentially.

After lunch, the tour guide leaded me to a vegetable market which is familiar with the market in my country, and I am very excited in it, because it is the place I always go to. Enjoy these fresh vegetables, seafood and meat is my happiest thing in my life. As a cook, I like to communicate with these kind original materials of cuisine. Last, we visited local famous snack shop and I brought many kinds of them and want my family would taste these delicious Chinese foods and snacks.

In one word, I was addicted into the Chinese cuisines including the cooking process and delicious fruits. I am still learning Chinese foods in my home if I have free time, and my aim in future is open my own Chinese restaurant in my country.

Making Dumplings

I'm very interested in Chinese food so during the trip to Beijing, I booked one of Beijing Cooking Learning Tour on beijinglandscapes. Haha, the tour didn't disappoint me (it is very interesting and meaningful). 

Began at 9:00 am and the first destination was the Beijing Cooking School. Here I learnt a few different dishes and saw how they are made from beginning to end, learning the secrets of excellent Chinese cooking. After hands on learning experience, I finally cooked three dishes as my lunch. I'm very proud that I could make dumplings. Although the shapes of them are very strange, it is a perfect job for me and I felt very exciting to eat my own Chinese lunch.   

Dumplings-My Lunch

After the lunch, I was driven to one of the branches of time - honored brand - Daoxiangcun Foodstuffs Store. I can't believe that so many people queue up to buy the snacks. Is it really delicious? Then I bought some to take home as gifts to my family and friends.

In the afternoon, I began the village tour - Beijing Gaobeidian Village. The first destination of the village tour is the Tonghui River. It is a part of man-made ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Great Canal with the long history of more than a thousand years. Then I visited the Classic Furniture Street. The 1,500 meters long classical furniture street is located along the Tonghui River in the east part of the Gaobeidian Road. The main type of the furniture is of Ming and Qing Dynasty. Here is a good stage for representing and trading Chinese Traditional furniture. At last I visit a local famer's house. This is my favorite part of the village tour. Here I happily talk to the villagers and make dumplings together with them. There I enjoyed a very delicious Farm Flavored.

About 6:00 pm I got to my hotel. Stay in the comfortable bed and aftertaste the one day trip, I still feel very exciting. The English speaking tour guide is very kindly to me and told me a lot about the history and story about the old Beijing. Also I'm very happy that I learn some secrets of Chinese cooking!

Cooking Learning and Nanluoguxiang Tour

I'm very interested in Chinese food and Chinese cooking. Surf the internet and look for Beijing tour routes. "Beijing Cooking Learning Tour", oh that's what I want! Online book the tour directly.

It's the time for the trip. At 9:00 am the English speaking tour guide picked me up from my hotel and drove to Beijing Cuisine School. Oh, how beautiful dishes! In the cooking school I learnt cooking three different dishes from beginning to end, getting to know the secrets of excellent Chinese culinary skill. The experienced expert of the school told me how to prepare the dish and the steps of cooking. I feel it very different. Thanks to the expert's help, after about two hours I finally finished the three dishes. I still couldn't remember the names of the three dishes, but enjoy the three dishes as my lunch I felt very happy and satisfied though the taste is a little bit strange.

My Lunch

After lunch, the tour guide drove me to a local vegetable market in the downtown area where local community people come for purchasing vegetable, meats, the many spices and other life necessities that make Chinese cooking special. There I saw many local citizens buy the vegetables. Then we move okn to one of the branches of the century-old traditional Daoxiangcun Foodstuffs Store. The store used to produce light snack served to the royal family or governmental officials in the Qing Dynasty. Now it has become one of the local people's must-have snacks of Beijing. The dessert here looks both delicious and delicate, so I bought six boxes for my friends to have a taste.

The tour finished in the early afternoon. I'd like to walk around to see local Beijing life. Once heard that there is a famous Hutong called Nanluoguxiang, where have many local snacks, different kinds of special shops and bars, so in the afternoon I went there. It deserves the reputation! Nearly 1000 meters long Hutong stand so many special shops and bars. There I bought a T-shirt with the design of the Peking Opera mask.

Today I really have a nice trip of "Beijing Cooking Learning Tour" which I did learn a lot of Chinese food. Also the trip to Nanluoguxiang gave me a deep impression.
