Exciting Great Wall Tour Hiking

I dare to say, the two days Great Wall hiking tour is the most terrific tor that I have never explored in the past years. Much thanks to my friend. We two really enjoy high on the whole journey. We all held many interests to Chinese history and culture. Traffic in Beijing downtown area is so bad that we delay about half an hour.

Mutianyu Great Wall

The bright weather gave me a big encouragement. Driver is very responsible offering us safe and cozy environment. Once arrival at Mutianyu Great Wall, we all go very exciting. Under the soft breeze, the green color in this area sends out dazzling features. There are many tourists lingering here, praising and signing for the magnificent buildings and the best preserved appearance. After stepped on the building, I can see the essence beauty of this world wonder. It is really deserved the high fame as the essence of Chinese Great Wall buildings. We went on our climbing. Sometimes, we sited down for a while; sometimes, we drank water for long-time appreciating. Weather is too terrific that we really want to cherish every minute staying here. There are many vendors along the wall selling all kinds of souvenirs, food and drinks. What I was interests is the watchtowers and the holes appeared in the wall buildings. They are just the witness of Chinese war time and profound history. Every certain distance, there will be mark established for warning us being careful for the long climbing journey.

Jinshanling Great Wall

Compared to Mutianyu Great Wall, Jinshanling showed very wild. On the second day, after enjoying the breakfast, we came to Jinshanling Great Wall. It is very hard to find the best preserved sections in the wall building. Earth and grasses paved along the whole journey created very harmonious environment. Most important is that we can find the prints of Chinese history. Most of all the bricks have been ruined full of red brick powder. It is the late summer, breeze showed little cool blowing through our skin. I really tasted Chinese original culture standing in this original building. Tourists here are less than Mutianyu Great Wall. We gained the free time leisurely climbing. Standing on the high point, we can see the residence houses far distance. I liked this kind of atmosphere very much. We started from the east section for the west section of Simatai Great Wall. Just entered into Simatai Great Wall, it gave me the steepy features, very wild and trick. We helped each other passing through each dangerous step. At last, we successfully conquered it. Unthinkable exciting!

Tour guide Tina did give us the best help on the whole journey. Highly recommended the tour!

Wall-crammed Days in Beijing

Last month my wife and I went to see the Great Wall in Beijing. Both of us decided not to do the trip to the wall the easy way like most tourists would, so we decided to combine with restored sections with wild walls. In the end our 4 days were crammed with walls at different sections under the recommendation of Leo, a nice tour guide.

Mutianyu Great Wall

Our first two days were spent visiting restored sections including Juyonguan and Mutianyu Great Wall. As it was well into summer, the weather was great and the air was crispy on the mountains. At Mutianyu we walked up till we reached the cable car station to grab a lift ride up the wall. At the top the path was well paved with solid stone and looking far into the distance, the wall went as far as the eye can see till it disappeared into the horizon. After an hour of hiking, we sat down at a watchtower to get some rest. Both of us were amazed and impressed by the scale of the wall. It was incredible to walk through those watch towers, where there were holes for shooting arrows and room to house just a couple of soldiers. At the end of our hiking, it was kind of hard to tell how far we walked up and down on the wall, all we could remember was only a few towers were visible.

Rest of days we headed further to the wild walls. At those sections, there were plenty of steep ravine and rock face, so we kind of struggled up the wall by climbing with extra care. The views were breathtaking only ruined by the thick layer of fog that still shrouded the surroundings. We then proceeded to walk along the crumbling wall and were amazed by the height and the length of the wall. On the wall we hardly run into anyone who enjoyed the walk as we did. We all got sweaty after hours of walking and climbing on the crumbling paths overgrown with bush and shrub. Later when it was time to get down, we went back and got a glimpse of the sunset on the wall. The sight was incredibly beautiful!

Overall, we had fun and adventure-filled days in Beijing. Best trip ever!

Best Trek Experience

Last week me and my friend Joe spent two days exploring the Great Wall. Our guide Chen took us to visit a few sections of the Great Wall including Mutianyu, Jinshanling and Simatai. We really had a great time over there, enjoying our trek, taking in rural sights as well as exploring the wall itself!

Jinshanling Great Wall

First day we were taken to see the wall at Mutianyu and a section of Jinshanling. We made an early start for our visit to Mutinayu the day we set out with Chen. Our ride to Mutianyu took us over an hour to get there. We spent about two hours on the wall. The section of the wall was well restored, making our trek on the wall quite easy. All we had to do on the wall was walking around, taking in the sights and enjoying the refreshing outdoors over there! There were plenty of incredible picture opportunities during our walk on the wall. It was really amazing to see the snaking wall up close and personal. We really had a great time on the wall. After our lunch break, we hit the road for Jinshanling with Chen. We did our hike over there for over an hour before we got down the wall and found our way to our accommodation at a farm house nearby. Both of us had a full day, though tired and dead beat!

The next day we went to hike rest section of Jinshanling and part of Simatai. Those sections were kind of wilder than Mutianyu section, overgrown with shrubs and bushes, with crumbling paths along the way. Our trek on the wall got really difficult as part of the path was very steep and dangerous. It took us quite a long time to get a hang of climbing through those steep sections of the wall. Though the steep climbs were much of a challenge for us, we were rewarded to quite a sight, indeed! The views were breathtaking and the crumbling watch towers were just spectacular! It was hard to imagine how they survived the harsh surroundings over there. Moreover, the crumbling watch towers made great photos.

Overall, we both loved our hike between Jinshanling and Simatai and definitely want to do it again, given the opportunity. What a marvelous trip in Beijing!
