Incredible Great Wall Experience

I have been in Beijing for a few days and spent 5 days exploring the Great Wall of China. I visited dozens of sections of the wall with my private guide James Liu. It is fun and incredible to walk the wall and take in the countryside sights out there. Definitely once in a lifetime experience to me!

Mutianyu Great Wall

Some of the sections of the Great Wall I visited are well restored like Badaling, Mutianyu and Juyongguan. The wall itself at those sections is in good shape and great for a leisurely walk on the snaking wall. I was completely impressed by the sight of the snaking wall zigzagging its way up the rugged hills and disappearing into the horizon. There are so many great photo opportunities while hiking along the stone path. The watch towers and beacon towers built on the wall are quite impressive and I also saw a lot of relics related to war. I also got an opportunity to climb up some towers to get a better view of the surroundings. Along the way, James talked a lot about the history about the wall, which made my trip to the wall more fun and enjoyable. Later I kind of puffed up and down the path and had to take rest from time to time. By the time we had to get down I was really tired.

Simatai Great Wall

The most exciting trip is to the wild sections of the Great Wall like Jinshanling and Simatai. The wall at those sections is left to nature and some parts of the wall are nothing but some ruins. While walking on the wall I had a chance to see how the original wall looks like. It is very impressive and different from the well restored sections. The trek I did on the wall is really hard and quite challenging to me. But the breathtaking sights made it all worth it! I really had a great time climbing up and down the wall and taking in the sights up there. The ruined towers out there make great post-card photos. The trip to those wild sections of the Great Wall is fun and all about adventure.

Overall, it is an unforgettable 5-day trip I did in Beijing. Loved the wall!

Thrilling Adventure

Last week I went off the beaten path to visit the wild sections of the Great Wall with a few friends. The trip went very well and we all had a great time and a lot of fun that day.

Gubeikou Great Wall

Our guide picked us up from the hotel and then we hit the road on a van ride. We first visited the Great Wall at Gubeikou section. The wall is so off the beaten path there and the paths are broken all over the place. The hills are very steep and it is really difficult to climb up and down the broken paths. But that is part of the fun while hiking the wild wall. Soon we all got tired and had to take some rest after over an hour of puffing up and down the ruined paths. The wild wall is overgrown with bushes and shrubs, making our hiking even more difficult. But we were treated to quite a sight up on the wall. The snaking wall zigzags its way up the rugged hills till it disappears into the far horizon. We took plenty of great pictures while hiking along the wall. We all got an opportunity to see what the original wall looks like on our trip down there. The hiking we did up on the wall is so exciting and we had so much fun while puffing up and down the overgrown paths.

Later we had lunch at the foothill and moved on to visit the Great Wall at Jinshanling. We only visited the eastern part of the wall there. The wall down there is a lot easier to hike than Gubeikou but still very steep. There were few people hiking on the wall down there and we all felt we had the wild wall all to ourselves. The experience is just incredible and we really had a great time on the wall just we did at Gubeikou. Our guide also told us a lot history about the wall. That made our hiking even more fun and enjoyable. It is just amazing to take in the ruins down there and the scenery is very spectacular. Moreover, there are so many great photo opportunities at every bend while hiking up and down the wall. Later our adventure travel ended on a pleasant note and we all got a safe ride back to our hotel.

Overall, the trip is quite an essential Chinese experience!

Truly Worthy Tour

Last time in Beijing, I have visited Beijing Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall. I like these magnificent buildings very much. Last Thursday, under the suggestion of my girl friend, we booked Jinshanling Great Wall day tour. We all felt exciting and this tour is finished so perfect!

Jinshanling Great Wall

The English of the tour guide is very perfect that everyone can know what she said. Even though more than 15 tourists share the bus, we cultivated very harmonious atmosphere. The traffic in Beijing downtown area is heavy but the driver is very skillful. He successfully got rid of the mass. About three hours driving, we came to the foot of Jinshanling Great Wall. What impressed me deeply is the tranquil environment, less tourists, fresh environment and magnificent Great Wall building. We wandered and appreciated leisurely deeply tasting the local culture.

After sharing some tips of hiking, we departure. Almost all the bricks have been destroyed. The sophisticated ancient wall is just in front of us. It is really the wild section with original feature without any decoration. I was very interested in this kind of atmosphere. The journey is very easy to climb. We climbed while appreciating the sceneries passing by. Walking on the ruined ground, I felt I have gone into the past years. About twenty minutes walking, we came to the legendary watchtower. This watchtower has lost its roof with destroyed walls. We choose one corner to sit down to enjoy the sophisticated section and quiet environment. My girl friend likes drawing very much. She carefully described this world wonder with her hand. I wandered around and took many pictures. To be different from other watchtowers, this watchtower is full of wild grasses in the gaps. After relaxing, we went on our journey. There was no vender on the hiking way. We communicated with each other and talked about the background of this section. We came to the famous Wangjing Tower, General Tower and the Taochun Tower. They are all the must-see scenic spot in the Jinshanling Great Wall. On the whole journey, tour guide gave us the legend why it is called Jinshan, sounds very interesting.

Turning back to see the journey we have passed through, I felt very proud. The scene cannot be described by words. There was no shopping on the whole journey. We really adventured a nice holiday!
