Fully Explored the Great Wall

Been in Beijing for two weeks and never had a break from work to take in some sights in the city. Luckily, I had 3 days to spend at my own will, so I decided to pay a visit to see my favorite Chinese sight - the Great Wall. After comparing the different section of the wall, I added three sections to my itinerary.

Mutianyu Great Wall

My guide Jimmy picked me up from my hotel and then we hit the road to Mutianyu first. The ride was quite pleasant on our way over there. I first grabbed a cable car up the wall and then started to hike along the stone-paved path. I have spent about over 2 hours on the wall, walking, snapping pictures as well as taking in sights. The wall itself was well restored and very ideal for a leisurely walk. Afterwards, we hit the road again and this time we went to visit a huge graveyard called Ming Tombs. The scenic area is a lot of fun but there is nothing but a bunch of tombs down there. Then we headed to Jinshanling and stayed for the night at a small village at the foothill of the wall. Early in the morning on the next day, we hiked the wall at Jinshanling and the experience is even better than Mutianyu. I really had a great time up the wall and it is so much fun to hike through the steep path. Later we got down the wall from Simatai section and lodged at a farmhouse.

Jinshanlng Great Wall

The last day, we did an incredible trek on Simatai section and the path is even more dangerous than Jinshanling and I had to take some rest from time to time while hiking through those steep parts of the wall. As I could see, the section of the wall was not well restored and very wild and overgrown with shrubs and bushes. I got to say, hiking through the steep parts of the wall is very challenging to me but I was treated to quite a sight. The sight of the snaking wall undulating all the way up the rugged hills is just overwhelming. The trek I did on the wall is incredible too. The watch towers are so different from those at Mutianyu and very impressive.

Overall, the day-trip is no doubt the highlight of my stay in Beijing and I really enjoyed it to its fullest!

Incredible Half Day Hiking

Been in Beijing for a couple of days with my brother, we both enjoyed visiting the historic city. We had so much fun and eye-opening experiences over those days. There were so many fun things to fill every day while we were there. The palace, garden, park, shopping and gourmet food, it seemed the whole city was like a treasure-trove waiting us to explore. We both loved it there and really enjoyed every minute of our vacation down there.

Badaling Great Wall

One of the most unforgettable things we did is the hike along the wall we did at Badaling for half day. The day before we went there, our guide Jane advised us to make an early start for the half-day trip, so we got up very early and had a quick breakfast too. Then we waited for Jane to show up and soon she picked us up and we all got on a car and hit the road for Badaling. The ride was quick and soon we arrived at the foothill near the wall. Once we jumped off the car, Jane led us toward a cable car station to grab a ride up the wall instead of walk up the wall on foot. The ride was great and up in the air, we got a clear view of the snaking wall. It was as incredible as it could be and we both felt so excited to finally get to see the wall. The minute we were landed on the wall, we started to hike along the wall with Jane. In the meanwhile, Jane told us a lot about the history of the wall and we also took time to snap some photos and take in the surrounding views.

The wall itself is as impressive as it could be and very awe-inspiring too. Everything seemed so perfect that day - the weather was pleasant, lovely tour guide with a good sense of humor. At first, it was very easy to hike through the stone path, but after over an hour of walk on the wall, we both felt tired and could not continue. So we stopped to get some rest and catch breath. The experience on the wall was really amazing and we both felt this is what we have been looking for on our trip to Beijing - the adventure, incredible hike and blood-pumping climbs. Later, it was time to get down, we also grabbed a fun slide down the wall and it was fun too.

Overall, the half-day hike we did is highlight of our trip to Beijing.

World Wonders Exploration

I do not know why I house so many interests in Chinese ancient times and rooted culture. My father ever told me that if I want to have a deep understanding about Chinese ancient culture, Great Wall will be the must-see. So, last week, I booked the 2 days Great Wall tour, really exciting and memorable. With my girlfriend, we enjoyed two days on Great Wall and learnt a lot!

Mutianyu Great Wall

First attraction is Mutianyu Great Wall. On the way to the destination, my girl friend and I, we imagined and thought its appearance. First time hiking Chinese Great Wall, really exciting. One arrived at this Mutianyu, we were all influenced by the green area. Yes, this Great Wall is decorated with large scale forests. We cannot see the Great Wall building clearly but impressed by the tranquil environment and charming sceneries. It is the early autumn period that all the plants still reach the utmost vigorous appearance. The building construction of Mutianyu Great Wall is complex than the book said. The watchtowers are designed very complex. We should walk down to enter. The darkness space led us walk into ancient times, really. Only the place that the window decorated is bright. From the delicate watchtower, appreciated the outside, surprisingly, the whole sceneries poured into my vision.

Jinshanling Great Wall

Compared to Mutianyu, Jinshanling Great Wall showed much more sophisticated. I liked it very much. It was completely keeping the original appearance without any decoration. Almost all the sections are ruined down. From the bricks, we can read the history prints. We start our hiking from the east section. Tourists here are less than Mutiany. We packed the bag hiking for the west direction. Road is very easy to pass through. Sometimes we just sited on the earth to appreciate the sceneries surrounded. There was no disturbing. All my minds were vacant. At that time, I really want the time stopped. Getting close to the west section, we arrived at the Gubeikou Great Wall. It showed us another typical appearance. Once walked further, the steps became steep and dangerous. We helped each other, counted the watchtowers we have passed through. Proud feeling started to dance in our heart.

Now, when I see the pictures I took in the Great Wall, all my minds all run to China. It will be the most important lesson that I learnt in China world wonders!
