Impressive Great Wall Hiking

Prepare for China tour for a long time, we decided the beautiful Beijing, the capital city as our first destination. Since Beijing is so rich in tourism resources so our tour in Beijing is full of entertainment.

Mutianyu Great Wall

Time flies, this is our last day in Beijing and we had an early start in the morning as we had organized a trip to the Great Wall of China. We didn't join the great wall at the usual tourist spot like Badaling, instead joining it at Mutianyu, high in the mountains. It was a brilliant sight. We had to get a cable car up the Lookout Tower form which we would start our walk. It provided stunning views and we decided to go with 23 watch towers which would take approximately 3 hours. I had learnt that Mutianyu section of the Great Wall was originally built during the Northern Qi Dynasty in the mid-sixth century, used to serve as the northern barrier defending the capital and the imperial tombs during the Ming Dynasty.

The Wall itself was harder to walk on than I had imagined. The Wall has been preserved very well, with all of the original bricks, however this makes walking along it somewhat harder! The steps are very steep and very small, never straight. The watch towers were raised so we were constantly climbing up to them before climbing back down the other side.

Now we had been walking, up and down steps and slopes for over an hour and my legs were starting to ache. We had to stop numerous times to regain our breath. Finally we got to the top watch tower. Standing by the flag at the top of Tower 23, we took in the amazing 360 degree view and caught our breath. Although I was completely exhausted, the amazing feeling of reaching the Tower made it all worth it!

Although the half day tour is short, it made me thought provoking about life. The climb was the most physically and mentally challenging thing I think I have ever done. I'm pleased that we made it. It provided an overwhelming sense of achievement and is something I will never forget. I really enjoy a wonderful trip in Beijing!

Great Time in Mutianyu Great Wall

Beijing–the capital city of China, I like it very much. When I got to Beijing, the first impression is that it is really an international metropolis. My flight arrived at 11:00pm and the nigh scenery of Beijing is so charming. On my way to the hotel, I deeply lost myself in the dream feeling.

I have already visited the famous and the symbols of Beijing–the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. So this time I joined the group of One Day Mutianyu Great Wall Tour. I really have a nice trip with Beijinglandscapes today. During the trip, the experienced English speaking tour guide told me a lot about the history of the Great Wall and Ming Tombs as well as the long and glorious history of Beijing. So although the tour is very short, I still learnt a lot.

Mutianyu Great Wall and Green Mountain

The tour began at 8:00am and the first destination is Mutianyu Great Wall. I know in China there is an old saying that: He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man. Now I came here to enjoy this world wonder. It is located in the suburb of Beijing. The tour guide said that it is the one of the new 16 King scenic spots in Beijing and the popular section of great wall in Beijing. For the construction of the Ming Dynasty, Mutianyu Great Wall was known as the guard, the imperial tombs of the northern barrier of the ancient capital. And now it has become one of the symbols of Beijing due to its beautiful scenery and large scale. In order to enjoy the panoramic view, I chose a cable car. Having a bird's eye view of the whole area, the experience is wonderful!

Entrance to Dingling

After a typical Chinese lunch, I visited another historical site–Ming Tombs. It is said that Ming Tombs of are the tombs of Ming emperors in China and during 230 years, there has built thirteen emperors tombs, seven concubine tombs and one eunuch tomb. I visited Dingling, the only underground tomb and Changling, the largest tomb in Ming Tombs during this trip. I was amazed at the four national treasures: Golden Delicious, Coronet, glowing pearl and the Ming three-color.

Forget to say that on the way to Mutianyu Great Wall, I also had a tour to a large scale jade processing factory from where I got to know the processes of Chinese jade carving and Chinese jade culture. I really enjoy a wonderful trip in Beijing and thank you very much for the considerate services.
