Wonderful Summer Resort

Last week, together with my mother, we enjoyed Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall. These two attractions brought us too much. I would give all my thanks to the tour guide - Lisa, she offered best service and good explaining on each attraction.

Badaling Great Wall

First destination is Badaling Great Wall. Once arrived at the building, I suddenly got a shock. So crowded tourists gathered! Tourists in different age step squeezed in this Great Wall building. At the beginning of the journey, my mother and I felt very leisurely and cozy. We saw the Great Wall landscapes and the traditional bricks. The long-distance building stretched to the far distance, very lifelike. All the watchtower buildings are built very delicate with complex building architecture. Surrounded them, we took a lot of pictures. Along the wall, there are many vendors ranking along selling all kind of souvenirs and food as well as drinks. We brought one bottle of water for relaxing. In the half journey, the strong sunlight permeating our face and mind showed very hot. At last, after relaxing some minutes, we gave up climbing on and get down to the foot. In the afternoon, we enjoyed typical Chinese lunch and had a short relaxed. We asked the appearance of Mutianyu Great Wall and hesitated go on or giving up, because the weather is too hot. We did not want to have the tired labor. Tour guide just left one sentence, it would not make you regret!

Wow, it is really a nice attraction with large scale forests. All of these trees are seemed to be sending out cool wind blowing to our faces and body. My mother and I, we all liked the Mutianyu Great Wall very much. Most of the important is that tourists coming here are less than Badaling Great Wall. We held enthusiastic feeling enjoying our leisurely climbing. Just at the beginning, I could taste the flavor sent out from the oil. The wet land is the cozy for us. The beginning wooden steps are the fabulous. It is just the summer resort facilities creating cozy environment. About ten minutes, we arrived at the long-distance ground made by the bricks. Under the trees, we enjoyed the first time relax in the Mutinayu Great Wall, very cool and comfortable. My mother drank water and I took pictures with breathtaking sceneries far away. The mountains far distance are all covered by luxuriant trees showing mystery and solemn. We did our best to conquer.

It is really a nice resort for summer holiday. I liked the climbing experience in Mutianyu Great Wall, I really gained much!

GREAT Wall Experience

We made an early start the day we headed out to walk the Great Wall with our guide. We met at our hotel and hit the road on a ride for Mutianyu. It took more than an hour to get to the foothill of Mutianyu Great Wall - our starting point for our walk of the Great Wall.

Mutianyu Great Wall

Once we were landed on the wall, we started our walk together. The weather was hot and the walk quite good at the beginning yet got tricky later. After walking for 10km on the stone-paved path, we were both really tired and my ankles hurt too! However, the views we got from the wall made it all worth the climbs. The wall has been well renovated yet there were still some parts of the wall dangerously built on steep hills! There were very steep up and down parts on the wall with nothing to hold onto. At one point, we run into a hawker who tried to sell us some postcards and t-shirts, but we rejected him friendly. He seemed to accept our rejection quite happily but then silently followed us. Kind of creepy as we were both not too sure what was on his mind! Very strange indeed! Maybe he was not that easy to give up!

Later he stopped following us around at that point - it seemed he figured out he was in no hope of trying to close a deal with us! Afterwards we continued our walk on the wall at a gentle pace, stopping at every tower to catch some breath and get some rest from the walk. It took us about a few hours to complete our walk on the wall. At some point, we were the only hikers to be seen on the wall, which made it even more incredible. Though the walk almost sucked the energy out of us we enjoyed the adventure and the views were rewarding. At the end of the walk, we headed down the wall on a toboggan ride, which made our wall experience even more fun. Later we had a lunch at a nearby restaurant and then were on our ride back to town. We were thankful when we arrived safely back at downtown hotel.

Overall, that Great Wall experience was once-in-a-lifetime for both of us!

Unforgettable Walk on Great Wall

The weather was perfect the day when I decided to go for a walk on the Great Wall of China. After met my tour guide at my hotel, we hit the road for Badaling Great Wall.

Badaling Great Wall

The car ride to the wall took about an hour. The foothill of the wall was of course quite touristy when we got there. There were cable car, sled as well as tourist stalls - all kind of reminded me of the perfect tour. I grabbed a cable car up the great wall. It was a good idea because the lift ride really saved me more energy for my walk on the wall. Badaling is a well restored section and the closest one from city proper of Beijing. The walk on the wall was just incredible. It was quite challenge for my feet but I was treated to quite a sight while hiking along the wall. There were many Chinese visitors struggling up the wall, just like me. With the crowds it was hard for me to pace myself on the wall. After an hour of walk, I caught my first glimpse of the wall - snaking along on the rugged hill. While walking along the wall I found that the walls on both sides were built with different heights. My tour guide told me that we were on the China side, so the wall did not need to be built so high. However, the Mongol side was much higher - what a clever idea!

Mutianyu Great Wall

In the afternoon, we headed for Mutianyu section. I climbed up at the western path of the wall, which was roughly in the middle of the Mutianyu section. The path was relatively flat, with the wall snaking ups and downs, but not on a hard-to-handle level. About every few hundred meters there was a watchtower ahead. The watch towers were restored too and I used them as marks to count my time. The pathway was fully paved with square stones, making my walk quite easy. Like at Badaling, the wall meandered along the top of the mountain ridge - quite a sight to see while trekking on the wall. By the end of my walk on the wall, I grabbed a toboggan ride down the wall and so my trip ended on a pleasant and tiring note.
