Beijing Wangfujing Street

Wangfujing Pedestrian Street is located at east of Tiananmen Square and it is 1,800 meters totally. Today, Wangfujing has been rebuilt to be a flourishing comprehensive business pedestrian street. Dongjiaominxiang Hutong

The longest hutong – Dongjiaominxiang, is the embassy area in old Beijing. It is one of the hutongs in Dongcheng District, starts from east road of Tiananmen Square in west to Chongwenmennei Street in east, and total 3 kilometers long. It is the longest hutong of old Beijing. History leaves various western constructions in different styles, and they attract many travelers from home and abroad. The shortest hutong – Yichidajie, is only more than 10 meters, sits at southeast of east exit of Liulichang East Street. From east to west, it is worthy the name of the shortest hutong in Beijing. It has only 6 shops in 10 meters, and it is the epitome of Beijing hutong. Now, this hutong has been merged into Meimeixiejie.

Jingshan Park near Forbidden City

Beijing, the gather place of various beautiful things, has many famous parks. Among these parks, I will take you to visit the closest park to Forbidden City - Jingshan Park.

Pavilion in Jingshan Park

Jingshan Park sits at Jingshan West Street of Xicheng District, built in Liao & Jin Dynasties, so Jingshan Park has history almost 1,000 years. Jinshan Park is one of the longest and most complete imperial gardens, and once the important part of imperial palace. In 1928, Jingshan was built as park. Now, Jingshan Park has become the AAAA level scenic spot.

Located at center of Beijing, Jingshan Park covers an area of 230,000, and the relative height of Jingshan is 45.7 meters and the altitude is 94.2 meters, it is the highest point of Beijing city. Standing on Jingshan, you can overlook the whole city, including the resplendent and magnificent Forbidden City and modern new Beijing. Jingshan keeps the mountain of Liao Dynasty and wall and door of Jin Dynasty. The old group buildings were kept completely in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Jingshan Park is situated at north of Forbidden City, and on the middle point of axle wire. It is a beautiful imperial garden for Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties in 800 years.

The middle peak of Jingshan is 44.6 meters, is the center of old Beijing city and the highest place in that time. The pavilion in middle peak is Wanchun Pavilion, is the square pavilion in three eaves. There are 5 pavilions on there, and they compose the pretty picture.

Flower Exhibition in Jingshan Park

In recent years, Jingshan Park has changed greatly. The flower exhibitions, including Peony Exhibition, Lotus Exhibition and Autumn Chrysanthemum Exhibition, attract home and abroad tourists every year with their beautiful colors, warm environment, full-bodied culture and bright characteristics.

Jingshan Park is also the gathering place for people who love singing. What they sing are Chinese national songs, revolutionary songs, foreign songs, Peking opera, popular songs, etc. Jingshan Choir Festival is held by the government of Xicheng District in Beijing, starts from 2004 and held once every year.

Jingshan Park is one of the best relaxing and tourist places in Beijing. The most situated tourist seasons are spring and autumn. That time, there are various flowers blossoming in park and fit for looking far into the distance.

International Cultural Village at the Foot of Mutianyu Great Wall

Lately, many foreigners stay in the villages, located at the foot of Mutianyu Great Wall. Some of them settle down there and manage restaurant or hotel. The Great Wall International Cultural Village, refers to the four villages sit at the foot of Mutianyu Great Wall in Huairou District, is the total name of Tianxianyu Village, Beigou Village, Xinying Village and Mutianyu Village. Driving along with the Huai-Huang Road, first arrived at Tianxianyu Village. Walking in this village, you will find the obvious marks of The Great Wall International Cultural Village. We were thinking why we did not find the foreigners, the special guide said foreigners are all gathered at Beigou Village and Mutianyu Village. Tianxianyu Village manages the feast of rainbow trout mainly. Most of foreigners prefer the feast of rainbow trout after Mutianyu Great Wall tour.

Left Tianxianyu Village, we entered the Beigou Village, and find a noodle restaurant opened by a foreigner, but closed. The guide said if you want to taste the noodle here, you must telephone him first. Walked along the footpath, we find an independent brick houses at half way up the hill. Although without decoration in outlook, but we can feel it has been rebuilt and show the brief style of northern European. It is said that these are small villas, preferred by foreigners mostly. But it is very expensive from US$ 600. At same time, passed some cars carried many foreigners. They come here for wedding, and the ceremony is held in Mutianyu Village, the Wachang is the accommodation place.
