5 Tips for Visiting Badaling Great Wall

No trip to Beijing would be complete without a visit to the Great Wall. Here are some useful tips for you to fully explore the Great Wall at Badaling.


Tip 1: How to Get There
Nearest to Beijing downtown, there are many ways to get to Badaling Great Wall. First of all, you can join a group tour or a private tour, than the tour guide will help you take care of almost everything during your visit to Badaling. If you want to get there on your own, instead of following some tour guide, then you can always head to Dongzhimen or Deshengmen station and get on the right bus to Badaling. Note that there are some vans or vehicles nearby which claim to take you to Badaling, but in fact, it is not the real, so do not fall for that. Best of all, if you want to save time, you could choose to rent a car for your visit to Badaling.
 
Tip 2: Safety should always Be Your Priority
While walking on the Great Wall may be fun and you may get carried away while hiking along the wall, but you really should pay more attention. The section is notoriously packed with crowds and much too touristy than the other sections. So you should be careful while exploring the wall on your own. However, do not worry too much about theft or safety and miss out on the main purpose of your trip to Beijing. Just be careful. That is it.

Tip 3: Behave Yourself on the Wall
It is highly recommended not to get too much carried away while walking on the wall. The wall is just there for you to explore, so just take your time on the wall and enjoy a good time and have fun. Tip 4: Wear a Pair of Walking Shoes
Walking on the Great Wall is not as easy as you think it is. It is much of a challenge for first time visitors to the Great Wall. Before you head to the Badaling section, you really should bring along some necessary gears for the walk on the wall, like a pair of walking shoes, some bottles of water, sunglasses and hat and the like. It is not such a good idea to wear high heels or some fancy shoes just to look great in the pictures. It is about walk on the wall and fun. It is okay to wear some fancy clothes, but the shoes should be endurable, unless you just want to stand there on the wall, watching others trekking along.

Tip 5: Avoid Visiting Badaling during Chinese Holidays
Whenever you plan on a visit to the Great Wall at Badaling, it is highly recommended not to go there on Chinese holidays when the wall is packed with crowds from home and abroad. You may find that it is hard to get some pictures without some heads in them while walking on the wall, let alone have a good time on the wall.
